
Isa Newport
Isa Newport is a multifaceted dancer, choreographer, and intimacy coordinator from Tallahassee, FL, now based in Atlanta, GA. Trained at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Isa’s practice draws from a wide range of movement vocabularies—including Cunningham, Limon, Countertechnique, and Release Technique—while also embracing interdisciplinary collaboration and devised performance.
Their performance career includes work by celebrated choreographers such as Shen Wei, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, and Trisha Brown, alongside a soloist role in Love and Depositions, a devised theater piece created with UNCSA’s world-renowned School of Drama. Isa has performed widely across concert dance and immersive theater, collaborating with companies including Monica Hogan Danceworks, Graham Shelor Dance, Bautanzt Here, VIA UNI and choreographer Meagan Novoa. In 2024, they were awarded the Spring Rising Artist Residency through Rise City Dance, where they developed and premiered their first evening-length work, Within The Mortal Skin, and offered free community classes. Most recently, their newest choreographic work was presented at the 2025 MAD Festival, affirming Isa’s commitment to experimental, research-driven performance that challenges the confines of traditional contemporary dance.
