Shelby M. Coon is a dance artist and collaborator based in Atlanta, GA. She holds a BFA in Contemporary Dance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and has furthered her training through the American Dance Festival, Staib Dance Italy, and the One Body One Career Countertechnique Intensive. Her early work includes research in dance filmmaking supported by the North Carolina Arts Council and a commission for the Wake Forest University Dance Medicine Conference.

Since relocating to Atlanta, Shelby has performed with SOMOS Dance Company and is currently a company member with Shelor Dance Company. She maintains an active freelance performance career and is continuously seeking new collaborative and performance-based opportunities within the community.

Beyond the stage, Shelby is deeply invested in the sustainability of the arts; she is currently working toward certifications in Project Management, Nonprofit Management, and Fundraising. Drawing on her experience with Dance Canvas and DanceATL’s A.M. Collab and Constructing Dance programs, she aims to leverage her administrative expertise to support Atlanta’s arts organizations and foster long-term community building.
